SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to connect to a web server and carry out different tasks using a command line. The protocol is preferred by many expert users, since the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it can't be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access can be employed for a lot of things depending on the type of hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file if the hosting server permits it. When you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH can be used for virtually anything - you can install software or restart certain services like the web server or the database server that run on the machine. SSH is employed mainly with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients which permit you to employ the protocol if your computer system is working with a different Operating System as well. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port though a lot of service providers change it for security reasons.
SSH Telnet in Shared Web Hosting
SSH access is featured with all shared web hosting
we offer. With some of them, it's offered by default, while with others it is an additional upgrade that you can add with a few clicks in your web hosting CP. You may get SSH access through the section related to it in which you can also find the info you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to select the password that you will use and, if needed, you will be able to modify it with a few mouse clicks from the same location. All of the commands which may be used with our shared plans are listed in a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server
account via SSH regardless of which plan you pick when you sign up. With some plans, the feature is provided as standard, and with others, it can be added as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You shall discover the needed login information inside the Hepsia CP, provided with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You could choose the password you'll use and if you would like, you can change it constantly with a couple of clicks for even better security. You'll be able to see all the commands that you may use beforehand, since we have listed all of them along with examples of how they are used so as to execute a specific task. Once SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is enabled, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our VPS server
plans provide SSH access as standard, so you will not need to include any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login details, you'll be able to connect via its primary IP address and the login credentials which you have selected during the signup procedure. Because the VPS accounts feature full root-level access, there are no restrictions with regards to the commands that you could run. Your server will be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you'll be able to manage more or less everything via a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. This way, you can work with your files, databases and any applications that you install in a fast and secure way.
